Abstract

Bearing always in mind that, according to the theory of Sociology of Religion of Islam, Muslim women are not passive victims of their religious beliefs and that Islamic beliefs and practices vary widely because they are shaped by region, ethnicity, sect, class, and responses to economic and cultural processes that are transnational and local, we will try to define the social status and potential of women in three quite different countries, which are the Islamic Republic of Iran, the west-oriented Turkey and the generally thought more modern and developed Egypt.
