Abstract
Iran's complex political system combines elements of a modern Islamic theocracy with democracy. Power is practiced by a network of elected and appointed institutions in a system with no distinct limits. The recent developments in the country's interior have clearly shown the political system's complexity along with the Iranian society's contradictory tendencies. It is those aspects that create a strong impact on the international image of Iran, which is, once more, in the limelight.
