Abstract
The Azeri minority in north-western Iran seems to be the “Achilles’ heel” of Iran. By comprising 1/4 of Iran’s population and sharing more bonds with the neighbouring Azerbaijan and Turkey rather than with the Persians of Iran, embodies the necessary qualities to develop secessionist tendencies.
