Research Internship Positions (2019-2020)

The Centre for Mediterranean, Middle East and Islamic Studies (CEMMIS) of the Department of Political Science & International Relations of the University of Peloponnese is offering two (2) internships on a voluntary basis for the current academic year. The interns, that will be supervised by senior associates, will be dealing with the study and analysis of ongoing events.

Applicants have to be at least graduate students in a field related to the research focus of CEMMIS.

FAQ

1. Should the interns be in Athens?

The researchers should be based in Athens, as they have to participate in CEMMIS team meetings every fortnight at least.

 

2. Where are CEMMIS meetings held?

Most of CEMMIS meetings take place in the centre of Athens but some of them may take place in Corinth.

 

3. How long is the duration of the internship?

The internship is to commence in mid-October 2019 and end by the beginning of July 2020.

 

4. What is the job of an intern?

According to their qualifications and capabilities, the interns may be asked to follow the social media, to collect and classify data and to write reports and analyses on current Middle East affairs, not necessarily on their expertise or according strictly to their research interests.

 

5. What is the selection process?

The selection process is CV based. Candidates may also be asked to participate in an interview in Athens or, if this is not possible, through Skype. They may also be asked for a writing sample in English.

The Centre is operating within the framework of the Department of Political Studies & International Relations of the University of Peloponnese. It does not receive any state or private funding and all its members are working on a voluntary basis.
